This is our Gallopade workbook. Students will be expected to bring this book to class EVERY DAY!
- HOMEWORK: Very rarely will there be homework assigned in Social Studies, so it's best they leave their workbooks AT SCHOOL. Pages we complete in class will be posted in Google Classroom, so they will always have access to this information! No need to carry an extra book around!!
- REVIEW: We use Kahoots! in class to review our chapter information and often times these will be posted in Google Classroom so students can review at home! Study guides are another great way to review! Kahoots and study guides contain the TEST QUESTIONS!
- TESTS: There will a chapter test following each chapter we complete. Students will take a PRACTICE TEST in Edulastic at least once in class prior to the FINAL TEST. This allows them to see the questions that will be asked on the test and to self-evaluate their knowledge level. Students who do not score at least a 75% on the practice test will be assigned a study guide to complete for homework the night before the test. (NOTE: The study guide IS IDENTICAL TO THE TEST!!
They can use the online PRACTICE TEST in Edulastic to complete the study guide!! Students will not receive full credit or extra credit if they turn in a study guide with incorrect answers!) - EXTRA CREDIT: Study Guides and making TEST CORRECTIONS are the BEST sources of EXTRA CREDIT! There is a place for a PARENT SIGNATURE on EVERY study guide! By signing your child's COMPLETED and CORRECT study guide, they recieve EXTRA CREDIT and FREE CORRECTIONS if they do not score well on the final test and would like to correct their answers! Students who score higher than a 75% on the practice test may REQUEST a study guide to do for EXTRA CREDIT. (BTW... MY test corrections are SUPER EASY to do!!)
- GRADES: Grades in Social Studies will come from the following:
- Vocabulary - Assigned at the end of the chapter as classwork.
- Book Checks - All chapter pages must be completed by test day! This is an "all or nothing" grade. No partial credit will be given.
- Practice Tests - Points will be given for COMPLETING the practice test regardless of the score.
- Study Guides
- Tests & Test Corrections
- Projects - We have several projects throughout the school year which will be completed IN CLASS.
ABSENT STUDENTS: When students are absent from class, they are expected to check in Google Classroom to see what they missed that day. (This is expected in ALL CLASSES, not just Social Studies!) All Social Studies classwork is expected to be completed by the time they return to school. If a student is UNABLE to complete the work prior to their return, please just contact me in an email or a phone call or a note. I understand this is not possible during every absence and extra time will be allowed to complete the work.
